Heartbeat 05:40
I'm just sitting here thinking, listening to my heart beat Your time is up your minute's here your cord is cut your fog is on the mirror my heart stops I disappear before your beat it drops I'm on my way out cuz I don't wait around for no one whatcha gonna pay for me? whatcha gonna make of me? whatcha gonna take from me that I cant take from you or try to steal myself? Whatcha gonna give to me? how you gonna live with me? How can I forgive you when you ain't done nothing that warrants a truce? Your time is up your minute's here your cord is cut your fog is on the mirror my heart stops I disappear before your beat it drops I'm on my way out Cuz I don't wait around for no one even though the possibility is always waiting for me, standing right in front of me. Why you wanna play with me? why you wanna placate me? why do you dissuade me from sitting with you and discussing different points of view? I find it disturbingly rude that I can't get a word in with you listen to the dead because like it or not, you'll be taking their place in the ground I dont wait around for no one I saw you sitting there, completely unaware, oblivious to me, listening to your heartbeat. I saw you playing dead, totally unprepared to give yourself to me but you keep begging 60 seconds baby why not now? what the fuck are you waiting for? I know you know your intuition isn't stupid superstition and now I'm sitting there, suspended in the air waiting for a beat. waiting for a heartbeat.

Promiscuous 04:30
Take a second to take a second guess cuz every enemy of mine has always been a pessimist Quttin' isn't in my dictionary, my definition of a sissy is he who doesn't rub it in when he wins It'll titillate you when I look you in the eye give a funny little feeling and you wanna try It's a serious side-split, ticklish, hilarious, thin fabric so go ahead and get ripped in two I need you to buy my excuse "It is what it is" He's promiscuous, he keeps a list of every conquest, bed post notches He's a feminist, quick to submit Suspends judgement, takes whatever he can get Why does it bother you when I talk about the war? Do you throw a fit because it's in your backyard? It's a tragic twist on the classic cataclysm, a rift in the pretty continuum of sophisticated conflict. Why would you take the side of a guy who puts his chips on the villain to win? You're giving in, giving out ammunition to the kids and the weapon is a deadly dose of bliss That's ignorance with arrogance, no common sense, the epitome of pitiful, it's the fact that you go for his argument which smacks of a lack of self-respect And you, you've got a whole lot to prove You sit and watch his every move Yeah all this time I'm impressed He's dangerous, quick with a fist Takes every opportunity to take a risk Talks with a lisp, walks with a limp When he isn't starting fires he's off starting shit. We've got your name in a database You're under surveillance Never leave a trace You should listen to me when it comes to foreign policy I'm a walking wikileak ready to scream I got some bad beef, I'm packing heat under the collar I'm volatile and rising to a high degree You should listen to me, expert in endocrinology Swimming in your bloodstream, making it steam I got a mean streak, I'm packing heat under the great wide open wait and see

Come away, come away, fall away with me Come and play down here with me Your father was an honest man, he never meant to leave Don't be afraid of what you see Come away, fall away with me I've always wanted to show you He's nothing but a superstitious apparition walking through the trees But never wanted you to know Poor child, your father's gone. How are you now to hunt and kill your own food? Poor child, your mother's gone too. What on earth are you now supposed to do? My old man said your old man don't know nothing about what it was like before you and I had started to fight Say you prayers alone. It's only your fate to decide child.

Electricity 07:13
Buzz all you like It won't do you any good You're spread so thin between your poles You like it when it's night cuz all is well that ends But you lean into the light Like your life depends on it Electricity You're hiding in the walls you built yourself Investing all your energy into your guilt Afraid that your good's not good enough and friction's building up Then you shock anyone you try to touch and the cycle's perpetuated Electricity Out of phase with the trending wave Are you charged enough to get away with any power at all to save for when your circuit breaks? The choice is on or off. Before you lose your way forgive yourself the noise you make It's not a show of strength to dim your brightness for someone else's sake Lessen your resistance to our help, we know you'll overthink your faith Find the ground, accept the weight of your slow and painful change. Out of phase with the trending wave Are you charged enough to get away with any power at all to save for when your circuit breaks? You're blacking out. The choice is life or death plus or minus The choice is on or off

Ready About 05:33
Vices operating me Ready about I wanna ask you a simple question How do I put up with my own moral corruption? I wanna know how to get past and through And what exactly as a man I am supposed to do To sever the ties, affix a new direction Or am I forced to forever relearn the same lessons? So that's it I'm leaving No I can't hang on Cast off I wanna try packing bags I leave tonight May a beacon always shine no choice but to travel through the night Sitting on the sides, water bubbling up, I'm in trouble double-crossd by the misdirection No telling east from west with no sun to set, I'm letting doubt come down to cloud my senses Sucking the tide, flying the signs, racing an approaching storm as the wind is rising Am I trying to hide from my insides, is it a lie or is it time to ride this tempest? A crackle in the sky again, I take another vitamin and see the southern eye open as pulses quicken Stick a stick in the wind and my skin goes tight, there's a lightning strike and I can see the instant Checking the time, awakening in all the water, thought I'd better be better than I was before, going out of my home alone and rolling only where the wind blows/ making eyes only open wider as the wind blows Cast off I wanna try packing bags I leave tonight May a beacon always shine no choice but to travel through on And it's along way around and it doesn't get any easier but don't give up when you get sucked down there is a gull out there somewhere A light on the water line is open there for all to see Flashes on the starboard side are open right in front of me Past your lighthouse it was: cold and lonely Why are you leaving? For the right reasons? Past your lighthouse it was: bring the boys back home Life's a strong man's game Who have you to blame? Past your lighthouse it was: Take your burdens with you Why are you leaving? Take what you're given Past your lighthouse it was: Open sesame Strange as it may seem we're not so different Past your lighthouse it was: clear and open Why are you leaving? For the right reasons? Past your lighthouse it was: bets are off forever Give what you're given Time to deliver.

about

Not Blood Paint Brooklyn, New York

Not Blood Paint is a theatrically vivid—and sonically intense—four-piece from Bushwick, formed in 2008 by guitarists George Frye and Joe Stratton, bassist Mark Jaynes and drummer Seth Miller.

Musically, it’s a group impossible to pigeonhole, far removed from traditional verse-chorus-verse structures. The songs manifest as detailed stories that worm into the minds of always-shifting narrators.
